History :

Chinese Scholars and Scientists Association at Harvard Medical School (CSSA at HMS) was founded in early 2007 after being approved by the names committee at HMS and is affiliated with Office of Basic Sciences and Graduate Studies. From the beginning, the organization has been supported strongly by prominent faculty members from Harvard Medical School, such as Dr. Yang Shi and Dr. Junying Yuan. These faculty members also serve as members of the advisor committee for our board. Although our organization is still young, there are many significant events and activities that have been held successfully by previous boards. For example, in 2007, the visiting group of Chinese scientist organized by CSSA at HMS successfully visited a number of universities in China and many of them found jobs in China. After the devastating earthquake struck Sichuan Province, China in 2008, CSSA at HMS instantly promoted and advocated large donations by uniting the other communities of Boston to raise around 30,100 dollars in one week for earthquake relief. Since the third board formed, the first Bylaw of CSSA at HMS has been established. The new website (¬www.hms-cssa.org) and forum (http://www.mitbbs.com/club_bbsdoc/Harvard_Medical_School.html) were also created. The current members of 2009-2010 board are working together with all of the Chinese researchers around HMS system to make this club a better platform to serve the community.
